To be perfectly honest, I did not understand the point of this episode. I mean the twist in the end was pretty cool, but I didn't understand why this episode was needed. I'm pretty disappointed. There wasn't even any Derek!

You remember when Derek said that Sarah had a pure heart?

The point of this episode was Sarah and her heat - what she wants, what she fears and what she's prepared to do. The moment she realized that this guy was a threat to John, she killed him.

That's a pretty important moment.

It's the last of Sarah's reserve. There are lines you cross that you don't come back from. Derek crossed because he believed that he could save Kyle. Sarah knew that wouldn't work. She'd faced that moment and made the choice to save life.

But now she's not only killed to save herself but killed to protect John. And this time, she makes sure Winston won't come back.

It's pretty important, the point at whicha the main character gives up the last of their illusions. It's also important from the point of view of what happens to Sarah and Derek and the rest down the road.

Sarah told Derek that she's kill him if he lied to her again. Derek thought she was bluffing.

Wanna bet he's not so sanguine the next time Sarah catches him in a lie?

I missed him greatly but I'm gonna say that it might be a good thing that Derek didn't amke his way into Sarah's dreams. She seemed, for the most part, to be dreaming through problems (her strained relationship with John, John's desire to see Cameron in her undies, she even dreamed about having bad dreams). MAybe Derek's just not really a problem.

Granted, she doesn't know about Jesse yet.

Actually, I think tattooed Coyote guy might have been Derek. Otherwise, the tattoos are extremely random.

Ahhh didn't think about that.

It vaguely crossed my mind when we first see Tattoo (Hector?) walking away and for a second you think he might could possibly have a camp barcode on his arm under the sleeve. I really didn't think about it beyond that. I kind of considered him a random by-the-way-this-is-a-dream red flag.

Hmm that is an interesting theory though. A guy Sarah doesn't recognize but who seems oddly significant and might be trying to do some good behind the scenes. Could be Derek...

I didn't think about that. I thought Hector might have been her conscious telling her to "take control of the dream". And what did Sarah say the coyote represented when she was talking to him?

When she asked him it he said it didn't mean anything, he just had it because his girlfriend liked it.

That's an interesting thought. Especially if you think about the dream catchers, you know, trying to make things easier for the Connors- unobtrusively and exactly how they need him.
